august 30, 2006: "We’re Back!" by muyan

We're back!

To all of our loyal fans who wondered why our site was MIA for the second half of the summer, our hard drive suffered an unfortunate accident and died in a miserable ball of fire...may it rest in peace. After getting back to Duke and starting on our latest video project (more on that later), we began looking for a new server. Through multiple trips to Intrex Computers of Durham (very nice and patient people), an exploding motherboard, and a computer swap, our new server should last for a very, very long time (or so Jeff tells us, but that's what he said before the first one blew up).

Our latest project (hinted at last year) involves filming Freshman Orientation for Duke University in order to make a Recruitment Video. We spent all of Orientation Week following around the first year students, attending all their planned activities, and eating all their free food--sorry to all you freshman ladies we may have bumped, hassled, or harassed during filming. We really appreciate all that the Dean of Students Office, FACs, and Orientation Staff have done to accommodate us, and we hope to make a video that does justice to the amazing Orientation you guys put together. We hope to have everything wrapped up (post production, soundtrack, etc.) and the final video out by the end of this semester. Stay tuned for production photos of our Orientation filming.

may 3, 2006: "A Summer Farewell" by muyan

Sweet & Sour Productions is now finishing its first year (or more like first 3 months) of production, a year filled with a lot of success (Froshlife) despite obstacles along the way (the logistics of starting a production company), and we are looking forward to our next three years together with high hopes and many expectations. This year we've completed two major productions and established contact with three major "sponsors", Duke Dean of Students, Freewater Productions, and Cable 13 TV. Next year we plan on expanding our projects with our sponsors--currently scheduled are a Duke orientation week video starting in August as well as a 6-part mini-series (think Asian Drama) for Cable 13 throughout the year.

Except for maintenance, this site will probably not be updated until we come back during late August to begin production on the Duke orientation week video. We'd like to thank all our wonderful viewers and fans, and we hope you have had as much fun watching us this year as we have had making all of our videos.

Have a great summer, and see you next year!

april 26, 2006: "Plan for Autumn’s Birthday Released!" by muyan

Just in time for finals, week, Sweet & Sour Productions would like to announce (drumroll please...) the completion of our second feature production, "Plan for Autumn's Birthday"! Check it out in the work section!

april 10, 2006: "Plan for Autumn’s Birthday Update" by muyan

Plan for Autumn's Birthday" is entering its first stages of post-production/editing. Although we've had some setbacks, including someone driving the truck we were using to a different state without our knowing and our lead actor spraining his ankle, this production has so far exceeded our expectations for a light romantic comedy. The release date for the video has been set to the first week of May so look forward to the premiere -- and don't miss the bloopers either, we've got some really good ones!

march 22, 2006: "Production Begins" by shang:

After a month of planning, production for "Plan for Autumn's Birthday" has officially begun. The story is about a hapless and extremely unlucky boy who goes through a lot of trouble to deliver a birthday gift to his girlfriend. The video will star actress Peggy Tseng and guest actor Jin Choi from Georgia Tech, an old filming friend from Duluth High School. Also, Shuo Zhang from Princeton, another high school friend, will be assisting with production. We expect the video to be completed sometime within the next two to three weeks.

We are excited to announce that we have begun pre-production of our next video, "Plan for Autumn's Birthday." Production is scheduled to begin in late March and be completed sometime in April. Stay tuned for further details!

Several groups around campus have expressed interest in Sweet & Sour Productions' work, including Duke's Office of Information and Technology. S&S may be invited to participate in productions for such groups in the near future.

february 6, 2006: "Site Launch" by jeff

Site's up and running but still under major construction.

Other than that, Sweet & Sour Productions' first film, My Only One, was submitted last Tuesday as an entry into the Duke University Froshlife 2006 competition, a freshman film festival with the simple guideline - advertise first year life at Duke University. All entries are currently under review, and the final judgment will be made this Wednesday at the Froshlife premiere by live judges.

My Only One, along with all other Froshlife entries, will play at the Froshlife Premiere on Wednesday night at 8PM in the White Lecture Hall on East Campus. Be sure to drop by and support Sweet and Sour Productions and the Wilson Froshlife Team!

We will upload the video onto the work page Wednesday night after the premiere.
